The New Orleans Hornets may have finally found a taker for Tyson Chandler and could actually get something valuable in return.
Â
The Hornets and Charlotte Bobcats are nearing a deal that would send Chandler to North Carolina for Emeka Okafor.
Â
Okafor just recently signed a big contract extension with the Bobcats, but the team has not been enthralled with his play.
Â
New head coach Larry Brown was not pleased with Okafor’s lack of effort toward the end of last season and seems to be intent on making another move to reform the roster.

New Orleans Hornets forward Tyson Chandler is continuing his rehab and expects to be ready in time for training camp.
Chandler is recovering from two different surgeries: one on his ankle and another on his toe.
The team tried to trade Chandler last year and had a deal complete pending the physical, but he failed it.
He was then returned to the team which created an awkward situation since it was clear they no longer wanted his services.

The New Orleans Hornets are off to a very slow start in the free agency period but are hoping things begin to pick up.
They are seven million dollars above the luxury tax, which probably explains why there has been so little movement.
The team is listening to offers for both forward Tyson Chandler and shooting guard Peja Stojakovic.
Both the Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons have an interest in Chandler, but he is still rehabilitating injuries from last year.

The New Orleans Hornets are still looking to trade forward Tyson Chandler after failing to do so before the trade deadline.
The team thought they had a deal in place, but Chandler failed his physical and was returned to New Orleans.
That created a somewhat uncomfortable situation with Chandler coming back to a team that clearly didn’t want him.
While not a major scoring threat, Chandler is a rebounding machine and a decent defensive player.

Because of their financial troubles, many expected the New Orleans Hornets to trade away their first round pick.
Instead, New Orleans used that pick to fill a huge hole by drafting UCLA point guard Darren Collison.
Collison’s stock has fallen a little bit over the past two seasons but he is still considered a quality point guard.
The team knew they had to do something about limiting Chris Paul’s minutes and finding a capable backup to give him some rest. Collison should provide just that.
